Welcome dear fellow friends of good entertainment!
Let me introduce myself: You can call me Hans, a name that gives you a hint to my residence and cultural background in the German lands. Born in 1986 I grew up with what I like to call the Golden Age of Videogaming - the 16bit era of the Sega Mega Drive and Super Nintendo Entertainment System, reading fantasy novels like Michael Ende's The Neverending Story and lots of Indiana Jones and Star Wars expanded universe books, and of course watching shows like Teenage Mutant Ninja Hero Turtles, Knight Rider and movies like Terminator 2: Judgement Day, The Star Wars Special Edition, Hard Boiled and so on and so forth. I guess I became a nerd pretty early and never really dropped the habbit of escapism.
So what's the reason for this blog? Well, I'll give you one. I'm what you call a collector and I want this one to be my collection of impressions, opinions and reactions of the stuff I'm consuming in my everyday life, be it Video Games, Books or TV-Series or Movies. So, yes, it's about what I'm thinking about stuff and probably writing reviews. We'll see how it goes.
Why does he with the German mothertongue write an English blog? The answer to this one should be obvious. "In a globalizing world, we are all regularly in contact with others [...]" to make us of Anthony Giddens' famous quote, who love and share their reactions to entertainment. In order to reach the most heterogenous audience I simply chose the most international lingua franca which certainly is English. Also it's good practice to me.
A word to the blog's design. Of course nothing's ever final, but the idea is to have three different areas for games, novels and movies/shows. That's also where the name of the blog derives from.
See you soon,
Hans
